RENTAL CHARGES
- Rental charges are calculated on a calendar day basis
- The day of pick-up is the first day of the hire regardless of the time of day
- The day of return is counted as the last day of the hire, regardless of the time of day
- Minimum rental period is 7 days at all times of the year with the exception of the Christmas period 20 Dec – 10 Jan inclusive when it is 14 days.
- Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak periods
- Returns can routinely be made between 0800 hours and 1700 hours 21 April – 23 September and between 0800 hours and 1800 hours 24 September – 20 April
- Special conditions can apply, but application must be made to accommodate any request outside these times
- There is no rental refund for unused days
- There is no refund if the hirer chooses to voluntarily downgrade from the vehicle booked.
- When a rental moves from one rate season to another, the calculation is based on both rates
- All prices are quoted and inclusive of GST at 12.5%
- Unlimited kilometres are included in the daily rental rate on hires 7 days or more
- Road user charges or diesel tax are included in the daily rental rate
- Short hires of less than those specified in the brochure are available, but are subject to availability and limited kilometres per day and an additional cleaning fee with also apply. For the full details of the special conditions applicable, please contact reservations.

RENTAL RATES INCLUDE:
- Modern vehicles, fully maintained to manufacturers’ recommendations

- All living equipment including cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, sheets, towels, pillows, duvets and duvet covers or sleeping bags
- Unlimited kilometres on all bookings over minimum hire period, except where specific bookings have been made on a limited kilometre basis

- Complimentary transfer on arrival from Airport City motel/hotel properties and ferries to all Client Service Centres. Hirers must call the applicable branch to arrange their complimentary transfer on arrival

*from 1 May 2008, a one way hire fee of NZ$220 is applicable for hires of less than 14 days between 1 October to 31 March

ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE (FULL INSURANCE):
From 1 May 2008, Pacific Horizon’s All Inclusive Package is available to travelers for NZ$47 per day premium on standard rental rates.
The All Inclusive Package includes:
Waiver of insurance excess on any vehicle and third party property damage; Camping table and chairs, baby capsule or child/booster seat(s) and snow chains where necessary, All one way hires free of charge

MINIMUM HIRE PERIOD
The minimum hire period is seven (7) days in all periods with the exception of 20 Dec – 10 Jan when it is 14 days. Days of hire are calculated on the number of calendar days, regardless of time of day of pick up or drop off. Minimum hire period is subject to change during peak periods.

Minimum Hire Terms and Conditions for travel dates beyond 1 April 2009:
Minimum rental period: 5 days, conditions apply. Minimum rental is extended to 14 days for the travel period from 20 December to 10 January and also for NZ/Australia school holiday dates. Vehicle rentals are calculated on a per calendar day basis, i.e. day of pick up or drop off is always counted as a full day irrespective of what time it is collected or dropped off.

DRIVING YOUR MOTORHOME:
The speed limit on the open road is 100kph (60mph) but 80 kph is the recommended limit in your travelhome. In built up areas the limit is 50kph (30mph)
A copy of the booklet "Driving Safely in New Zealand" is included in your travel pack.

DRIVER LICENSES
A current valid driver’s licence (held for a minimum of one year) is essential and must be sighted by a Pacific Horizon employee at or before commencement of the hire. This is required under New Zealand law. An International permit or a country of origin license is satisfactory. Minimum age of all drivers is 21 years. If the license is not in English, an English translation is required. If you are a member of an automobile association in your own country bring your membership card with you - it will entitle you to additional information on travel throughout New Zealand.

TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
We supply with all vehicles a copy of the “Driving Safely in New Zealand” brochure to ensure hirers are familiar with all New Zealand traffic regulations. Safety belts and Child/baby restraints are required by law. Please advise if there are children under 5 years old travelling.
If the hirer is fined or penalized for breaking any traffic law, they are responsible for the fine plus all costs including administration on our part incurred as a result.

AVAILABILITY/CHANGE OF VEHICLE
We reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost in some circumstances. While we always endeavor to provide the vehicle with the transmission type requested, the substitution of Manual for Automatic or vice versa, may be necessary in some circumstances.
Please note: - Neither of the above shall constitute a breach, and will not entitle the client (hirer) to any refund whatsoever.

DEPOTS
Depots: Auckland, Wellington, Picton, Christchurch

ONE-WAY RENTALS
One way hires on request available at no extra charge, providing they are prearranged and agreed in advance, otherwise a relocation fee will be payable.
There is no charge for one way rentals between any of the above depots at any time. (You must return your vehicle to the terminal designated on your rental agreement to avoid a relocation fee).

One-Way Rental Terms and Conditions for travel dates beyond 1 April 2009:
One-way rentals are available between Client Service Centre locations. A fee of $240 is applicable for hires less than 14 days during 1 October - 31 March.

TRANSFERS/VEHICLE PICK UP
On request a courtesy car will pick you up from the airport, ferry or hotel and return you there. Full details will be on your motorhome confirmation.

CHANGES TO DROP OFF LOCATION
If the hirer wishes to change the drop off location after the commencement of the hire, then authorisation must be sought from our reservations department, if approved; a relocation/repositioning fee of up to $750.00 will apply.

VEHICLE DROP OFF REQUIREMENTS
- All vehicles must be returned to the nominated Client Service Centre with fuel tank full and waste tanks (both grey water and toilet waste cassette) emptied. If they are not, then we reserve the right to withhold part of the vehicle security deposit to accommodate the cost of filling the fuel tank and/or emptying the waste tanks.
- Should the vehicle be deemed to be in an unclean state when returned, we reserve the right to charge the hirer an amount of $100.
- The client is only required to empty the waste tanks, fill with fuel, wash all the dishes, sweep the floor, and remove all personal rubbish. The outside of the vehicle must be clean enough to ascertain if any accident damage has occurred.

PETS
Health and Safety Regulations prevent us from permitting pets to be carried in our vehicles with the exception of Guide Dogs.

NON-SMOKING
The entire Pacific Horizon fleet is non-smoking. If smoking does occur inside the vehicle an additional fee will be charged.

SAFETY BELTS AND CHILD/BABY RESTRAINTS
- New Zealand law requires the use of safety belts for all passengers and of approved child restraints for children less than 5 years of age. Suitable child seats are available from Pacific Horizon.
- It is advantageous if we are advised prior to arrival, the age and weight of the child, should a seat be required, to ensure the correct seat is available. This is also necessary if a transfer is required.
- Pacific Horizon accepts no responsibility or liability for the use or misuse of supplied child seats, nor do we accept any liability for the anchorage requirements of baby or booster seats that may apply in the country of origin of the hirer.

VEHICLE BREAKDOWN/CUSTOMER BACKUP SERVICE
- All our vehicles are fully maintained and serviced regularly, according to manufacturers’ recommendations. However should clients experience any difficulties while traveling in a Motorhome, Pacific Horizon provides a free phone client support service which runs 24 hours a day operated by our own staff.
- Minor repairs (excluding operator error) costing less than $100 may be undertaken without prior authorisation. Receipts must be presented to the drop off Client Service Centre for a refund.
- Amounts in excess of $100 require prior approval.
- Clients need to contact our free phone 0800 808 881. If the problem cannot be fixed quickly, clients will be directed to the nearest service agent. The free phone service is available 24 hours a day from any New Zealand phones or mobiles.
- No responsibility for accommodation, transport or other expenses resulting from a breakdown or accident will be accepted without prior approval.
- Problems associated with the vehicle must be reported to us as soon as possible (within 24 hours), in order for us to fairly effect repairs and not detract from the holiday experience. Pacific Horizon will not accept liability after the termination of the rental agreement for any problem during the rental period for which we were not notified.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS
While all our vehicles can be driven on all legal formed roads (gravel and sealed), it is important the hirer understand that the vehicle insurance cover will be negated should the hirer/driver take or drive our vehicles on the following roads. The hirer will therefore be responsible for all damage incurred.
Ninety Mile Beach, Northland
Colville Township to Port Jackson, Coromandel
Skippers Canyon Road, Queenstown
Ball Hut Road, Mt. Cook

Vehicles must not be parked within 10 metres of any water edge (river bed, beach etc).

VEHICLE SECURITY GUARANTEE (BOND)
- A vehicle security guarantee is required at the time of vehicle pick-up and can be covered by credit card imprint or paid by cash or travellers cheques in New Zealand dollars.
- The security guarantee ensures the vehicle is returned to the correct location at the nominated time, refuelled, in a clean and tidy condition with no missing or damaged items, the waste water and toilet cassette is empty and is also as security against any traffic infringements and associated costs.
- We retain the right to hold credit card or cash bond details for 21 days after the hire or until costs are finalised.

RATE /INSURANCE OPTIONS
STANDARD RATE (minimum level of insurance included in rate):
Standard rate includes the minimum level compulsory insurance with bond/excess of NZ$4500, or options as below can be taken to reduce bond/excess. (Options are payable at the depot).

Insurance option with Standard Rate:
(Minimal level of insurance included in standard rate)
Option 1: for NZ$19 per day reduces bond to NZ$2500.
Option 2: for NZ$35 per day reduces bond to Nil.
(If no options chosen, bond is NZ$4500)

ALL INCLUSIVE RATE (full insurance included in rate):
The All Inclusive rate includes Option 2 bond waiver insurance with bond/excess of Nil, as well as table and chairs (1 per person), 1 baby/booster seat, and snow chains as required, and all one way hires free of charge

Insurance options with All Inclusive Rate:
All Inclusive Rate already includes option 2 (full) insurance

INSURANCE OPTIONS DETAIL
The (compulsory) minimum level of insurance covers against recoverable 3rd party accident damage, theft and breakins (excluding personal belongings). A standard excess of NZ$4,500(per incident) applies in the event of any damage to either our vehicle or third party property. Multiple windscreen and tyre damage is also covered as is overhead and under-body damage on the rented vehicle. An imprint only (no money held or transferred) of NZ$4,500 will be taken on vehicle collection. The security can be covered by cash, traveler’s cheques in NZD or a credit card. Should the insurance excess and the Vehicle Security Guarantee be covered by credit card the amount will NOT be debited to your account and will only be done so in case of an accident. We retain the right to hold these details 21 days after the hire.

Option 1: reduces the excess for any damage to either vehicle or third party property to a maximum of NZ$2,500(per incident). Multiple windscreen and tyre damage is covered in the standard policy as is overhead and under-body damage on the rented vehicle. The total insurance charge is limited to a max of 50 days or NZ$950. The security can be covered by cash, traveler’s cheques in NZD or a credit card. Should the insurance excess and the Vehicle Security Guarantee be covered by credit card the amount will NOT be debited to your account and will only be done so in case of an accident. We retain the right to hold these details 21 days after the hire.

Option 2: waives the excess for any vehicle and third party property damage. Multiple windscreen and tyre damage is covered as in the standard policy as is overhead and under-body damage on the rented vehicle. The total insurance charge is limited to a max of 50 days is NZ$1,750. The security can be covered by cash, traveler’s cheques in NZD or a credit card. Should the Vehicle Security Guarantee be covered by credit card the amount will NOT be debited to your account and will only be done so in case of an accident. We retain the right to hold these details 21 days after the hire


INSURANCE EXCLUSIONS
The hirer is fully liable for any damage to the Pacific Horizon vehicle or third party property if:
1. The terms of the rental contract are breached;
2. Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, willful or reckless driving;
3. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
4. Driving on restricted roads;
5. Water submersion or salt water damage caused through own fault


WINDSCREEN AND TYRE COVER
Windscreen and tyre cover is included in all Pacific Horizon insurance policies. This relates to the front windscreen only - not the side and rear windows.

DEPOSIT
A deposit of 25% of the total hire cost is payable to secure a booking. This is calculated on 25% of the daily hire tarrif times the number of days of the hire. The full balance is required 30 days before the commencement of the hire.
The bond, Compulsory daily insurance, optional insurance waivers and any additional equipment must be paid at the Depot at the commencement of the hire.
