MOTORCYCLE RENTAL RATES & CONDITIONS
01 April 2008- 31 March 2009

Please note:
• Britz Bikes are provided by our partner Garner’s Hire Bikes.
• This document contains a summary of Garner’s rental conditions. For full detailed conditions, refer to the
rental agreement provided upon motorcycle collection from the supplier, Garner’s Hire Bikes.
• Rates are GROSS, in New Zealand dollars, include 12.5% GST
• Rental basis: 24 hour
• Minimum rental period is 3 days
• Motorcycle rental is available for pick-up and drop-off in Christchurch only
• Rates and conditions quoted are subject to change without notice.

• 24 hrs road service help line (toll free)

• Helmet and Gloves
• Touring equipment panniers
• Tubeless Repair Kit
• Cable locks

HELMETS:
Helmet usage is compulsory in New Zealand and are supplied free of charge. Gloves and touring equipment
panniers/saddle bags (storage compartments) are also included.

If equipment is returned damaged, fair wear and tear excluded, charges will apply (helmet approximately
NZ$100)

ADDITIONAL HIRE ITEMS/SERVICES
• Leather Jacket $20 per person per rental
• Wet weather Jacket $20 per person per rental
• Wet weather Pants $20 per person per rental
Please advise required sizes of leathers and helmets upon booking.
Top Boxes are not available.

RENTAL DURATION:
• Rental days are calculated on a 24-hour basis
• Minimum rental of 3 days applies

INSURANCE & SECURITY DEPOSITS:
• Insurance for personal injury is in most cases covered by Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
• Insurance excess is twice the security deposit (see table below):
• The balance of the excess is payable if the motorcycle is damaged and/or involved in the unlikely event of an
accident.
• Garner’s Hire Bikes must be notified as soon as possible and an accident report filled out.
• Should the renter require another motorcycle, an additional security deposit will be required.
• Personal belongings are not insured and Garner’s recommend travel insurance be arranged before leaving
home.
• Water damage is not covered - standard excess applies.
• The security deposit will be debited to the hirer’s credit card upon collection of the motorcycle at Garner’s.
Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard. A non-refundable 1% credit card surcharge will apply.
All insurance cover is void if the rental agreement is breached and the renter becomes fully liable.

MOTORCYCLE LICENSES:
A current and full motorcycle driver’s licence is required and must be produced upon vehicle collection.
Should a foreign licence be in a language other then English it must be accompanied by a current international
driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence was issued. An accredited English translation
will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT:
The minimum age is 25 years to hire a Britz Bike.

IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
In addition to a full motorcycle drivers licence the hirer’s passport must be presented upon vehicle collection.
Should the hirer be a New Zealand resident without a passport additional identification will be required. Please
discuss with your Reservations consultant.

FUEL:
• Motorcycles are supplied full of Premium Unleaded fuel and they must be returned full.
• Fuel will be charged for, at pump rate, if returned empty.

LUGGAGE:
Excess baggage can be stored free at pick-up location if required.

MAINTENANCE:
• Garner’s have late model, fully serviced motorcycles, however if minor repairs of up to $50 are required, this
is allowable without authorisation. Above this figure please contact Garner’s for authorisation and the
location of the nearest repair centre.
• Receipts are required for reimbursement and an after hours number is provided.
• Regular oil checks and chain lubing and adjustment are the responsibility of the renter.
Tools and chain lubes supplied.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS
The BMW Bikes can be ridden on sealed roads and well-maintained unsealed roads. Trail riding is not permitted.
The Harley-Davidson can only be ridden on sealed bitumen roads.
Britz reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road
or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the length of the hire period.

VEHICLE ASSISTANCE:
Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported as soon as possible, and
within 24 hours in order to give the supplier the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to
do so may compromise any claims for compensation. Garner’s do not accept liability for any claims submitted
after this period.

RENTAL EXTENSIONS:
If you would like to extend your hire whilst on rental, you must first contact Garner’s Hire Bikes on
+64 (0) 29 982 2200 to confirm availability.

INFRINGEMENT FINES:
Garners reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding, parking or toll way fines, associated
administration costs and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the
vehicle. The administration fee per fine and in addition to the fine will be NZ$50.

TAXES:
Goods and services taxes (GST) of 12.5% are included.

CREDIT CARDS:
For bookings with Britz, the following credit card surcharges apply:
The credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer. Accepted credit cards are Visa Card,
MasterCard and American Express. A non-refundable 1.75% administration fee will apply to all Visa and
MasterCard transactions. A non-refundable 4.5% administration fee will apply to American Express cards.
For payments and security deposits at pick-up, the following credit card surcharges apply:
The security deposit will be debited to the hirer’s credit card upon collection of the motorcycle at Garner’s.
Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard. A non-refundable 1% credit card surcharge will apply to payments
and security bonds.

How to get to the pick-up location:
Garners are located in Woolston in Christchurch (2 Dalziel Place).
From the Airport take a shuttle to the City Centre then a Taxi to Garners (approx NZD$20 fare).
